Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure

MorningTimes.uk is operated by Windmill Hill Media Ltd., a private company limited by shares registered in Gibraltar (company number 130642), with its registered office at Suite 12, Neptune House, Marina Bay, Gibraltar GX11 1AA. Our business model relies on a combination of display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, and sponsored content. This page explains how we fund our journalism and the measures we take to ensure transparency and editorial independence.

Who is responsible for MorningTimes.uk?

MorningTimes.uk is wholly owned and operated by Windmill Hill Media Ltd., a Gibraltar-registered company. Full ownership and funding details are available on our ownership and funding page. Editorial control rests with the Editor-in-Chief, Edward Sterling, who oversees all editorial policy, corrections, and content quality. No external funder or advertiser has any influence over editorial decisions.

How is the site funded?

MorningTimes.uk is funded through display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships, and affiliate revenue. A detailed breakdown of our funding sources can be found on the ownership and funding page. All commercial material is clearly labelled, and affiliate links are disclosed in accordance with UK advertising regulations.

We do not accept payment for editorial coverage, and no commercial relationship determines the conclusions of our journalism. Our editorial policy sets out the strict separation between commercial and editorial operations.

What are affiliate links and how are they disclosed?

Affiliate links are hyperlinks that may earn MorningTimes.uk a small commission if a reader clicks through and makes a purchase. These links are always clearly identified with a disclosure immediately before or after the link, and the disclosure is visible on the page. Typical wording includes “We may earn a commission if you buy through this link” or similar plain-language notice.

Disclosures appear in the body text near the affiliate link, in article footnotes where multiple links appear, and in a standard disclosure statement at the bottom of any article containing affiliate content. Affiliate relationships never affect the editorial assessment or recommendation of a product or service.

Does advertising influence editorial decisions?

No. Advertising and commercial partnerships have no influence over editorial conclusions, story selection, or the tone of our reporting. The editorial team is operationally separate from the advertising and partnerships teams. Our editorial policy explicitly prohibits advertisers from dictating or reviewing content before publication.

All advertising is clearly distinguished from editorial content. Display advertisements are labelled “Ad” or “Advertisement”. Sponsored content is labelled “Sponsored” or “Paid content” and follows our sponsored content policy.

How can I contact the advertising or partnerships team?

For advertising enquiries, email advertising@morningtimes.uk. For affiliate programme or partnership opportunities, contact affiliate@morningtimes.uk. General commercial partnership queries should be sent to partnerships@morningtimes.uk. All commercial teams operate independently from the newsroom and report to the publisher.

How is sponsored content identified?

Sponsored content – including articles, videos, or newsletters paid for by a third party – is clearly labelled with “Sponsored”, “Paid content”, or “In partnership with [brand]” at the top of the piece. Our sponsored content policy outlines the rules for such material, including that sponsored content is reviewed by the editorial team for factual accuracy but remains clearly separate from independent journalism.

Sponsored content is never allowed to misrepresent the views of MorningTimes.uk or to present paid promotion as independent news. Editorial staff do not write sponsored content unless it is explicitly labelled and subject to the same correction and transparency standards.

Our commitments

  • We will always clearly label advertising, affiliate links, and sponsored content so that readers can distinguish commercial material from independent journalism.
  • No commercial relationship will ever determine editorial conclusions, story selection, or the treatment of subjects in our reporting.
  • Our editorial and commercial teams operate under a strict firewall, with no communication about individual articles or editorial decisions between them.
  • We will review and update this disclosure page at least annually, and any material changes to our funding model will be communicated to readers.
  • We are committed to transparency: readers can contact the Editor-in-Chief at edward.sterling@morningtimes.uk or the Standards & Fact-Checking Lead at helen.carver@morningtimes.uk with any questions about our commercial relationships.
