Ownership & Funding

MorningTimes.uk is owned and operated by Windmill Hill Media Ltd., a private company limited by shares registered in Gibraltar (company number 130642). The Editor-in-Chief, Edward Sterling, is ultimately responsible for all editorial decisions and for ensuring that ownership and funding arrangements never compromise the independence of our journalism.

Who owns MorningTimes.uk?

MorningTimes.uk is wholly owned by Windmill Hill Media Ltd., a company registered in Gibraltar with registered office at Suite 12, Neptune House, Marina Bay, Gibraltar GX11 1AA. There are no external editorial shareholders; all ownership and control rests within the company.

Windmill Hill Media Ltd. has no parent company or external investors that hold voting rights over editorial content. The company’s sole business is the publication of MorningTimes.uk and related digital services. This structure ensures that ownership remains transparent and that no outside party can direct or influence the editorial output of the publication.

How is MorningTimes.uk funded?

MorningTimes.uk is funded through a diversified revenue model that includes display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships, and content licensing. All commercial material is clearly labelled so that readers can distinguish it from independent editorial content.

Display advertising is served through programmatic and direct deals. Affiliate links are used in relevant articles and are always disclosed in accordance with our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure. Sponsored content is produced in collaboration with commercial partners but is clearly marked and governed by our Sponsored Content Policy. Newsletter sponsorships are identified in the email heading, and content licensing agreements are entered into with third-party platforms under terms that preserve editorial control.

No funding source — whether advertiser, sponsor, or partner — has any editorial authority or is permitted to determine the conclusions of any piece of journalism.

Do advertisers or sponsors influence our editorial content?

No. Advertisers, sponsors, and commercial partners have no control over editorial coverage, story selection, or the conclusions drawn in any article. Our Editorial Policy explicitly prohibits any commercial relationship from dictating editorial decisions.

All commercial arrangements are governed by strict separation between the editorial and commercial teams. Commissioning editors never see advertising or sponsorship data before making editorial decisions. Sponsored content is produced to the same journalistic standards as regular content and is reviewed by the editorial team to ensure accuracy and fairness. The commercial team operates independently and reports separately from the newsroom.

Who is accountable for editorial decisions?

The Editor-in-Chief, Edward Sterling, is accountable for all editorial decisions at MorningTimes.uk. He oversees editorial policy, corrections, editorial standards, publication decisions, source review, and content quality. The full editorial team is listed on our Our Team page.

Day-to-day editorial planning is managed by Catherine Lowe, Managing Editor, who coordinates the newsroom workflow and article commissioning. Standards and fact-checking are led by Helen Carver, who reviews all corrections and ensures adherence to our fact-checking policies. Each section editor — Politics, Business, Culture — is responsible for their own beat and reports to the Editor-in-Chief. Governance is clear and structured, with final authority resting with Edward Sterling, who answers to readers and to the company’s board only on matters of compliance and business sustainability, not editorial content.

How can I advertise or partner with MorningTimes.uk?
