Who is Micky Flanagan?
What is Micky Flanagan’s background?
Micky Flanagan is an English stand-up comedian whose entire act draws from his upbringing in London’s East End. He first stepped on stage at open-mic nights in the early 2000s, and by 2007 he had a featured slot at the Comedy Carnival (TheCityCeleb biography). Before comedy he worked as a fish porter at Billingsgate Market, a fact he often mines for material. His big break came with the Out Out tour in 2011, which established his “geezer” persona and led to a Netflix special.
This overview frames Flanagan’s career trajectory from market to arena.
Which football team does Micky Flanagan support?
Flanagan is a lifelong supporter of West Ham United. References to the club appear regularly in his stand-up, and he has been spotted at matches wearing the claret and blue. The team’s East London origins mirror his own background, making the fandom a natural fit for his on-stage identity.
The implication: for Flanagan, loyalty to West Ham is another way he signals his working-class credentials – a touchstone his audience immediately recognises.
Where is Micky Flanagan now and why is he not on TV?
Is Micky Flanagan touring in the UK?
Yes, Flanagan is actively touring. His official website (Micky Flanagan’s official artist hub) lists his new stand-up show If Ever We Needed It…, and ATG Tickets (official ticketing partner) confirms a run of warm-up dates from 30 September to 14 November 2026 in venues including London, Woking and Oxford.
Why is Micky Flanagan not on TV anymore?
Flanagan has reduced his television appearances in recent years, but there is no formal announcement or controversy behind the shift. He has focused on live stand-up and his Netflix special instead of panel shows or sitcoms. The move appears to be a deliberate career choice – live touring generates higher revenue and greater creative control. As of 2025, he remains active on social media (Instagram (7.8K followers)), but TV exposure is minimal.
Flanagan’s absence from TV means he reaches a smaller audience than during his peak panel-show years, but his tour ticket sales suggest his loyal fanbase follows him wherever he performs.
This pattern shows a deliberate shift towards live performance over television.
